Less Inside

Things are definitely moving now. They're moving out the doors and windows, and into skips! For the past week, the rest of what needs to be taken out of the houses is being removed.
The work started at the top so the picture will start there too. When finished this room will be on two levels and around 114m2. It's the master bedroom, with bathroom, wardrobe and some storage space.

Second Floor.
The two rooms at the front of the building are not going to change that much, but the rest is going to move around a bit, and a few new floors are needed.

Some parts of the floor are gone at the back of one side, and the front rooms are being used to store doors and stairs. A couple of walls have gone too.

Nothing has been done in the cellars yet so there are no new photos for the time being.

There is one more image though. The last shot is of a Treuchel-Bohrer. This is, according to the archaeologist, an interesting historical building tool. It is apparently that interesting, that someone decided to enter the building without permission or our knowledge and try to take it without asking.
Yes, that's right, we've had our first burglar; unlawful entry with the intent to commit a crime!
Luckily our architect was there to inform the local burglar that this was not okay.

Overview

Nearly everything going on at the moment is about the roof. There's some digging work going on in the cellar and the ground floor, but pictures of holes and channels dug in the floor aren't as interesting. I'll add a separate post for the Roof once a little bit more is done. This post is all circular panorama shots from most of the rooms so we have a record of the process. The Start

After a long time searching, looking at different houses, in various locations, putting in bids, being conned by estate agents that went back on promises and strange auction processes, we've found a house. It's not what we were originally looking for, but there are aspects that we love. The age (1763), the wooden beams running throughout the ceiling and the walls, the thickness of the walls which is due to it being part of the original town fortifications, all of this as well as the potential made us want to buy it.  We also see it as a means to be able to move onto something else, a way to stop paying rent and to start putting money into something that will be ours.

Planning permission is Through

Things are going smoother now. The final hurdles to get us back on track are out of the way, we had to have new plans made (the others were off), and we found out that part of the planning permission application that we were trying to complete, was not necessary and wasn't even our responsibility! Now that the Planning Permissions are through, we can break through! Apart from the obvious way of getting from one building to the other through the front doors, or through the roof, there has been no other connection, until now. The first breakthrough was made at the weekend on the 1st floor, the one that will eventually be the kitchen. This means that we no longer have to run up and down two flights of stairs to be able to cross from one side to another.  The next two on the Ground Floor are planned for this weekend. More to come soon.
