Changes

It's about time for some more before and after images. Apart from the three oil tanks everything is gone that for the time being at least, needs to go.
There aren't many, but it gives an impression of how the work is progressing and how much it has already changed.
This is one of the front rooms on the ground floor, that will be an entrance hall. The first three images show it from the perspective of the room.

The second group of three is from the hallway (that was) next to it.

The Kitchen

The front room from the other building. A lot will still happen in this room, as the floor needs to be removed to be able to put the new pellet heating system in the cellar below.

This was one of the kitchens. In this area, there'll be the stairs coming up from the ground floor, a guest WC, a pantry, and the hall through to the living room from the new kitchen in the other building. The floor will be replaced too!

As soon as we have more, we'll post them.

Overview

Nearly everything going on at the moment is about the roof. There's some digging work going on in the cellar and the ground floor, but pictures of holes and channels dug in the floor aren't as interesting. I'll add a separate post for the Roof once a little bit more is done. This post is all circular panorama shots from most of the rooms so we have a record of the process. The Start

After a long time searching, looking at different houses, in various locations, putting in bids, being conned by estate agents that went back on promises and strange auction processes, we've found a house. It's not what we were originally looking for, but there are aspects that we love. The age (1763), the wooden beams running throughout the ceiling and the walls, the thickness of the walls which is due to it being part of the original town fortifications, all of this as well as the potential made us want to buy it.  We also see it as a means to be able to move onto something else, a way to stop paying rent and to start putting money into something that will be ours.
